Yemen – Ansar Allah

Ansar Allah (supporters of Allah), also known as the Houthis, is a Shiite movement that emerged in Yemen in the early 1990s.

The Houthis’ slogan, “Allah is great, death to the US, death to Israel, curse the Jews, and victory for Islam,” became the group’s trademark.

In 2014 the Houthis took over the capital Sanaa, removing the government, and now control most of the northern part of Yemen’s territory. They have been supported by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps since at least 2011. Since 2015 the Houthis have been fighting the Saudi led-military intervention to restore the internationally recognized Yemeni. Iran and Lebanese Hezbollah expanded training and increased arms shipments and arms in response to this.

The Houthis have launched several attacks using drones and missiles at Saudi Arabia and most recently the UAE.

On February 16, 2021, inexplicably, the U.S. State Department, revoked the designations of the Houthis, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).
