November 11 – Why Israel – Providence, RI
“PARADOS EN LA BRECHA” is the name given to the yearly 2-day celebration of Israel, at Iglesia Vida Abundante led by CUFI Israel Trip alumnus, Rev. Dr. Santos N. Escobar from Providence, RI. This year I had the privilege of being the keynote speaker for both evening services. The genuine love and enthusiasm the congregation showed for Israel was very moving.
I could tell Pastor Escobar has taught his congregation well. The main sanctuary was beautifully decorated for the occasion and the praise and worship team sang songs celebrating God’s miracles seen in the Bible. The atmosphere was charged with joy and the message received wholeheartedly. The CUFI materials were received with great appreciation and many asked specific questions about the different ways in which CUFI has developed. pastors and leaders from other congregations visited. This church wants to be more engaged with our vision and mission. Unbeknownst to me, the pastor’s’ wife had been in the hospital for surgery. Rev. Escobar never once gave indication of wanting to postpone or cancel the event. Quite to the contrary, everyone was going full speed ahead. His clear desire is to be more involved working with Hispanic pastors and leaders in Ri and contiguous states. I will be calling and consolidating the contacts he shared with me.
