August 4th New Rochelle, NY Bilingual Why Israel Event
On Sunday, August 4th, Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera and his wife Pastor Clara Rivera of Refuge of Hope church hosted their first-ever bilingual “Why Israel” event in New Rochelle, New York. This historic event was conducted by our National Hispanic Outreach Coordinator Rev. Peter De Jesus and his wife Rev. Mildred De Jesus, who is also our Daughters For Zion Prayer Network Hispanic Outreach Director. Approximately 225 congregants attended this epic event which was also visited by a few precious Jewish people in the nearby community. The result of this first-time event was glorious as Pastors Rivera publically declared to their church family that they would, now more than ever before, be a congregation that stands in solidarity with the nation of Israel and the beloved Jewish community. It was wonderful to see so many of the congregants become CUFI members, join our Daughters For Zion Prayer Network, and give a special offering towards our CUFI On Campus efforts. Additionally, it was extra special following the event to hear Pastors Rivera mention that they will attend our 2020 CUFI DC Summit together some of their church leaders and dear Jewish friends from the Greater New York City Area. And to top it all off, Pastors Rivera requested to have another CUFI event before the end of this year when Mariano will be teaming up with CUFI to take some of the Yankee Players, Personnel, and NYC Businessmen to Israel. Thus, this event was extremely successful. For this and so much more, we profoundly appreciate Pastors Rivera for being CUFI members, CUFI partners, and Israel advocates!
