Oct 14th Philadelphia, PA Standing with Israel
We are pleased to report to you that the Standing With Israel Event in Philadelphia on Sunday, October 14 was a great success!
It was held at the Overbrook Assembly of God Church, where Pilgrim Kwaku Owusu Boachie and Pilgrim Gloria Boachie serve as Pastors. With over two hundred and fifty Christians and Jews in attendance, the program was characterized by inspiring prayers, high power African praise and worship music led by the International Choir of Overbrook Church, unapologetic expressions of love for Israel and the Jewish people, moving remarks with tears by a Jewish lawyer, and a deep but yet provoking message delivered by Rev. Dumisani Washington, CUFI’s National Diversity Outreach Director. He among other things underscored the following as ways to stand with Israel: 1. Visit Jerusalem, 2. Bless the God of Israel, and 3. Bless the leaders of Israel. The congregation lifted a special offering of about $2,000 to assist with our advocacy work for Israel. Many also signed the Israel’s Pledge Card to be a part of the advocacy movement for Israel and the Jewish people. The event was followed by a Christian United for Israel’s Pastors and Church Leaders’ Breakfast on Monday morning (Oct. 15), where Pastor Dumisani Washington led more teaching on our advocacy for Israel.
We express special thanks to Pastor Kwaku & Gloria Boachie and the Overbrook Church family for all of the efforts, prayers and preparation put into this beautiful event, all pastors and churches that were represented, our participants, including Pastor Kou Dolopei, Minister Steve Kelly, Pastor Anthony Sengbe and others who came from as far as Delaware and New Jersey. We are also grateful to CUFI for providing some logistics and making our trip to Philadelphia possible.
With the remarkable success God allowed us to achieve during this event, preliminary discussions and planning are now being held for the first ever Africa Night to Honor Israel-Philadelphia, slated for October 13, 2019. More details will follow later. Indeed for the sake of Zion, we will not be quiet (Isaiah 62:1)
