Weekly Reflection – The God that Intervenes
God, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and, God, do not be still. For behold, Your enemies make an uproar, and those who hate You have exalted themselves. They make shrewd plans against Your people, and conspire together against Your treasured ones. They have said, “Come, and let’s wipe them out as a nation, So that the name of Israel will no longer be remembered.”
— Psalm 83:1-4
Zion’s enemies still seek to wipe the Jewish state off the map, yet God has not remained silent. The Mighty One of Israel has intervened on her behalf, as evidenced throughout Scripture and time and time again within the miraculous history of the modern State of Israel. One thing is certain—God’s people can depend on His intervening grace in the midst of their struggles.
The miracle of Israel’s rebirth is that such a tiny nation surrounded by a massive sea of enemies has become one of the brightest torches of liberty, courage, and blessing in the world. The fact that the Jewish state is alive and thriving should encourage us to depend on the Most High in times of adversity. Embrace the fact that the Lord God of Israel promises to hear our cry and answer our prayer.
