Weekly Reflection – Submit and Rest
Weekly Reflection – Submit and Rest
Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
— James 4:7
Like Israel, Jesus spent time in the desolate wilderness (see Matthew 4:1-8). While there, our Lord set an example for all believers to follow during times of trouble. Christ submitted to His heavenly Father, and He resisted the enemy just as James directs believers to do in his epistle. Those who have endured testing know firsthand that the wilderness is a dark and barren place, and it is crucial to use certain spiritual tools for both survival and victory. One of those essential tools is humility. Humility is the opposite of arrogant pride and self-centered ambition—character traits that describe the chaotic times we live in.
This week, be encouraged—even if the Spirit leads us into the wilderness, as He led our Savior, He is with us every step of the way. Likewise, while Israel fights against terrorists in Gaza, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob remains forever on their side. How can you stand with them alongside Him today?
