Weekly Reflection – Remember

Bless the Lord, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

— Psalm 103:1-5

In Psalm 103, David is reminding himself of the Lord’s goodness and the power of His holy Name. He is calling God’s people to rehearse His blessings in their minds and declare them with their mouths, allowing our song of thanksgiving to seep deep into our souls and become a source of continual encouragement. This beautiful psalm celebrates God’s personal benefits, His relationship with Israel, and His everlasting righteousness and lovingkindness for the generations to come—to those who obey His mandates.

There is nothing better than to love and to be loved—it is what our Creator intended for us. Love nourishes the spiritual body, much like blood sustains the physical body. Love enables all the members of Christ’s body to function in a healthy, harmonious manner. However, Paul is referring to a pure love (1 Timothy 1:5) that is honest, not hypocritical (Romans 12:9); humble, not proud (Romans 12:10); Christ-centered, and not self-centered (Philippians 2:3).
