Remembering 9/11 as pro-Israel Christians

The US-Israel relationship is founded on shared values, such as a love of life and liberty. But the true depth of friendship is often realized on one’s darkest day. Today, as we commemorate the horrors of 9/11, we must not only remember history—we must learn from it.

On September 11, 2001, Palestinians danced in the streets, while Israelis wept for their American brothers and sisters. No people on earth understand the pain, anger, and loss Americans experienced on that horrific day as do Israelis.

As we look back and mourn the events of 9/11, let us also re-commit to standing with Israel, our friend and ally.

More than a pragmatic alliance, the close friendship between our countries is based on shared democratic values. The Judeo-Christian worldview emphasizes personal freedom, universal civil rights and places the utmost value on all human life. This is the value system was handed down by God at Mt. Sinai and serves as the foundation of Western civilization.
