CUFI’s Word of The Week – How to Get Promoted

He who loves purity of heart and whose speech is gracious, the king is his friend. 

— Proverbs 22:11

Scripture is replete with examples of godly individuals who stood before royalty, ministered in king’s courts, and rose to positions of prominence. Our God is in the business of selecting the lowly, the obscure, and the humble as those whom He chooses to exalt as His representatives. This short proverb indicates two of the key qualifications for such promotions: honesty and graciousness, two characteristics intrinsic to wisdom (c.f. James 3:13-18).

We are ushered into palaces and receive honor from people in power when we are filled with wisdom. Our Savior was marked by wisdom, and it granted Him favor with God and man (Luke 2:52).

Do you want to be used by God in halls of power? Be honest, wise, and gracious.
