CUFI: ICC Investigation Announcement “Simply Absurd”
Hagee: “The Court is preparing to launch an investigation at the behest of a state that does not exist, into a state over which they have no jurisdiction.”
December 23, 2019 WASHINGTON – On Monday, the leadership of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, released the following statement in reaction to the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) decision to launch an investigation at the behest of the Palestinian Authority into activity in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem.
“The ICC’s announcement is simply absurd. The Court is preparing to launch an investigation at the behest of a state that does not exist, into a state over which they have no jurisdiction. If the ICC applies one set of rules to the rest of the world and one set to the Jewish state, that is — plain and simple — rank anti-Semitism,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.
“For years the Palestinians have undermined the foundations of international institutions in an effort to demonize Israel. This exercise by the ICC will achieve the same result and serve only to show that the Court is amenable to applying a double standard to the Jewish state,” Hagee added.
“The Court has no jurisdiction over Israel or the disputed territories. Where does it end? Who is next? Are we to expect that one day American Special Forces will be hauled in before the Court for killing terrorists on foreign soil?” said Sandra Parker, Chairwoman of the CUFI Action Fund and a practicing attorney.
“Both the US and Israel are not signatories to the Rome Statute because we did not want to surrender our sovereignty to an international entity. The ICC is compelled to respect that decision or show itself to be completely uninterested in upholding the rule of law,” Parker noted.
With more than 7 million members, Christians United for Israel is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world. CUFI spans all fifty states and reaches millions with its educational message.
The CUFI Action Fund, a nonprofit 501(c)(4), nonpartisan organization, is related to the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, Christians United for Israel (CUFI). The Action Fund is dedicated to ensuring our elected officials hear the perspective of the millions of Christian Zionists across the country.
