Weekly Reflection – Set Apart
Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.”
— JOSHUA 3:5
Paul echoes Joshua’s charge by instructing the Corinthians to have no company with unrighteous people. Paul reminds them of God’s covenant promise that He will dwell among His people, but first they must “come out” from the midst of evil:
“…having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1)
Is there any unrighteousness entangling your life as you wait for the Lord to work on your behalf? Can the lack of holiness be separating you from experiencing His presence—His signs and His wonders? Remember, the Lord cannot and will not dwell with sin—His presence abides in righteousness.
Let us make it our business to set apart our heart, mind, and spirit to God and away from the world. It is at this time that the Lord will remove the barriers that keep us from His divine destiny—just as He has done time and time again for His Chosen People.
