Weekly Reflection – Persistent Prayer
Weekly Reflection – Persistent Prayer
Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.
— JAMES 5:16-18
Prayer is how we communicate with God. Prayer is one of the most powerful gifts God has given His children and yet it is sadly overlooked and underutilized. The New Testament church was built on prayer. Through the prayer of repentance, we are made new creatures in Christ and given the promise of eternal life. Prayer heals the sick and delivers the oppressed. Prayer parts the seas, it lifts the valleys and levels the mountains. Revival fires are ignited and sustained thorough prayer.
Do you want to transform your life and increase the effectiveness of your prayers? Then pray like Elijah did—effectively, earnestly, and persistently.
Prayer is powerful; it is not a ritual—it is a privilege.
As war in Israel rages on, remember—your prayers have power! Seek the Lord this week on behalf of Israel and the Jewish people—and be prepared for your prayers to accomplish much.
