Weekly Reflection – God’s Word Endures
“The grass withers, and the flower fades, but the word of our God endures forever.”
— Isaiah 40:8
In the first few verses of Isaiah 40, the prophet refers to the temporary nature of man’s plans, and in this case, earthly kingdoms like Babylon. The reader is urged to consider the contrast between our own frail mortality and God’s eternal reign. As with all things human, kings and kingdoms will pass away, but the Word of God will remain forever, bringing comfort and hope to those who hear it (Isaiah 40:1-11).
This week, remember that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is all-knowing, all-powerful, and ever-merciful, and His Word will endure for eternity. He has promised to walk by our side as we take every step of life’s journey. We have been born again through an indestructible seed— the living and everlasting Word of God—that will not wither but will endure forever (1 Peter 1:23-25).
