In Support of Corker-Menendez Bill, CUFI Places Full-Page Ads in Home-State Newspapers of Key Senators
Ads follow CUFI action alert that generated more than 72,000 emails to senators in support of legislation
SAN ANTONIO – On Tuesday, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, announced the full details of their wide-ranging grassroots effort in support of the Corker-Menendez Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act (S. 615).
The group’s public efforts began last week when CUFI launched an action alert encouraging senators to support the bill. To date, that alert has generated more than 72,000 emails to senators from CUFI members.
This week, CUFI’s efforts expanded with the group running advertisements in home-state newspapers of four key senators who have not yet committed to supporting the bill.
Full page advertisements ran on Monday in the New York Post and the Billings Gazette (Montana), calling upon Sen’s Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Jon Tester (D-MT), respectively, to support the bill. On Tuesday similar full-page advertisements ran in The Star-Ledger (New Jersey) and the Richmond Times-Dispatch calling upon Sen’s Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Mark Warner (D-VA), respectively, to support the Corker-Menendez bill.
In addition to the ads and the national action alert, CUFI is sending geo-targeted emails to members in the four states discussed above asking supporters to call and email their relevant senator in support of the bill.
“By all accounts the Obama Administration is close to reaching a bad deal with Iran. Congress has a moral and Constitutional obligation to review any nuclear deal that is reached. Any senator that fails to support Corker-Menendez will be called upon to explain why they chose to sit out the most important foreign policy issue of our day,” said CUFI executive director David Brog.
“Our membership has spoken loudly and clearly that they want Congress to step up and play a role in any Iran deal. Every senator should know that our two million members are speaking for the overwhelming majority of Americans. We will all be paying close attention to the actions these senators take in the coming weeks,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.
With more than 2 million members, Christians United for Israel is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world. CUFI spans all fifty states and reaches millions with its message. Each year CUFI holds hundreds of pro-Israel events in cities around the country. And each July, thousands of pro-Israel Christians gather in Washington, D.C. to participate in the CUFI Washington Summit and make their voices heard in support of Israel and the Jewish people.
