CUFI Welcomes Nevada State Assembly Action on anti-BDS Legislation
LAS VEGAS – On Thursday, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, welcomed the Nevada State Assembly’s passage of SB 26, legislation that prohibits the state from contracting with or investing in entities that boycott Israel.
CUFI has been involved in the Nevada legislation since its inception. The bill was born of a conversation between CUFI representatives and Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison during the 2016 Las Vegas Night to Honor Israel, at which Hutchison was a keynote speaker.
Since the bill’s introduction, CUFI distributed an action alert supporting the measure to its Nevada-based membership, held a Night to Honor Israel at which speakers highlighted the measure’s importance, and CUFI founding executive director and active Board member David Brog testified in support of the bill at a Nevada State Senate committee hearing earlier this year.
“The BDS movement is fundamentally an anti-Semitic movement and one that endangers peace in the Middle East… People who see no good in the state of Israel, and no evil beyond its borders, are bigots pure and simple,” Brog said during his testimony.
With more than 3.5 million members, Christians United for Israel is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world. CUFI spans all fifty states and reaches millions with its message. Each year CUFI holds hundreds of pro-Israel events in cities around the country. And each July, thousands of pro-Israel Christians gather in Washington, D.C. to participate in the CUFI Washington Summit and make their voices heard in support of Israel and the Jewish people.
