CUFI Urges Congress to Advance Anti-Semitism Awareness Act
March 20, 2019 WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the leaders of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, expressed support for the recently re-introduced Anti-Semitism Awareness Act (S.852). The bill directs the U.S. Department of Education to use the leading definition of anti-Semitism when investigating allegations of unlawful harassment against Jewish students.
“Anti-Semitism isn’t just a Jewish problem. It’s everyone’s problem. It’s an abomination that must be confronted at every turn. And at an absolute minimum, we must work to protect students, the most vulnerable members of our society, from the rising tide of anti-Semitism sweeping across this country. At this moment, the best way to do that is for the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act to advance without delay,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.
“Despite the hollow arguments of some, this legislation does not outlaw anti-Semitism – rest assured those who choose to do so will still be allowed to hold anti-Semitic views and spew their hateful rhetoric. But when a student is being unlawfully harassed offering the Department of Education guidance, to examine whether or not the underlying act was motivated by anti-Semitism, only serves to protect students and give their school administrators another tool to ensure the American campus is a safe and welcoming place for all,” noted CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.
With more than 5 million members, Christians United for Israel is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world. CUFI spans all fifty states and reaches millions with its message. Each year CUFI holds hundreds of pro-Israel events in cities around the country. And each July, thousands of pro-Israel Christians gather in Washington, D.C. to participate in the CUFI Washington Summit and make their voices heard in support of Israel and the Jewish People.
The CUFI Action Fund, a non-profit 501 (c) (4), nonpartisan organization, serves as the public policy arm of the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, Christians United for Israel.
