Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary!
Washington, D.C., has a variety of activities happening on July 4, 2026, to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. Here are some of the nation’s celebrations, including (but not limited to):
- 11:45 am – 2:00 pm
- National Independence Day Parade – a spectacular display featuring bands, floats, and cultural organizations marching along Constitution Avenue.
- 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm
- Operation Independence! Family Scavenger Hunt – This family activity is geared towards ages 10 and up and involves approximately a half mile of walking around the Washington Monument grounds.
- 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm
- A Capitol Fourth Concert – a free, star-studded concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, broadcast live nationwide.
- 9:09 pm – 9:27 pm
- Fireworks on the National Mall – one of the most recognized fireworks displays in the country, free and open to the public.
Additional details for attending the July 4 fireworks display, including access points along the National Mall, prohibited items, and road closures, will be released later this month.
