Weekly Reflection – Keep Silent

But Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.”

— Exodus 14:13-14

Moses told the Israelites to “keep silent” instead of crying out against their situation. He reminded them of God’s promises to fight for them and deliver them from their enemies. God was true to His Word—He sent an angel to be their rear guard. Empowered by the Lord, Moses raised his staff and parted the Red Sea, and the Israelites walked to the other side on dry land. Furthermore, as promised, God Almighty confused Pharaoh’s army and drowned each and every one in the waters of that same sea.

When you find yourself in an impossible situation—stand still, keep silent, and remember God’s promises. Then raise your hands in praise and watch the Lord work on your behalf. Just as He redeemed the Jewish people from the hands of the Egyptians, He will intervene on your behalf—the enemy that comes against you today will be destroyed, never to torment you again. Are you in the midst of troubles? Do not fear—praise His holy Name for the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will deliver you.
