CUFI’s Word of The Week – He Is Risen

“He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said.”

— Matthew 28:6a

On Sunday, believers around the world will celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the grave.

As we commemorate the day in which God raised Jesus from the dead, we also remember that the God whom we serve is in the business of bringing life where there is death and restoring what is broken. And He always keeps His promises. The same God who commanded Israel to live divinely oversaw the rebirth of the modern State of Israel in 1948 (c.f. Ezekiel 37).

The resurrection of Jesus reminds us that dry bones can come to life, hearts of stone can be made flesh, and barren places can produce fruit by the power of the Spirit who raised Jesus. That same Spirit has now taken residence in our hearts.

This week, ponder the “the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the boundless greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and made Him head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all” (Ephesians 1:18-23).
