ICYMI: CUFI Leaders Applaud President Trump for Signing Executive Order Combating Anti-Semitism

December 12, 2019 WASHINGTON – Yesterday, the leadership of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, applauded President Trump for issuing an executive order adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism for the purposes of government agencies tasked with enforcing Title VI.

In a video, CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee personally thanked President Trump for signing the executive order on behalf of CUFI leadership and its more than seven million members:

“I have an exciting announcement to make. On behalf of the leadership of Christians United for Israel, and our more than seven million members, I would like to personally thank the Trump administration for issuing today’s executive order which adopts the State Department’s definition of anti-Semitism. What President Trump did today is historically important. You cannot defeat what you will not define. For the past two years, CUFI has been working towards adopting this definition of anti-Semitism and this was our number one policy priority this year. Today’s executive order accomplishes our goal. We applaud President Trump’s decision to move forward. The President did what Congress was unwilling to do. Since its inception, CUFI has been committed to fighting anti-Semitism in all its forms wherever it is found. This year, due to our Shine the Light campaign, two million people have pledged to shine a light on the anti-Semitism that hides in plain sight, fighting those who would use opposition to Israel as a veil to hide their hatred for the Jewish state and its people. Enlightenment or adoption of this definition will prevent anti-Semites from hiding behind contemporary anti-Semitic tropes like dual loyalty and other stereotypes. You cannot change what you’re unwilling to confront. So, thank you, Mr. President for confronting the scourge of anti-Semitism head on. Thank you for issuing this executive order, which will protect our Jewish brothers and sisters and continues the United States’ vital partnership with the state of Israel and its people.”

CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee and CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker were both on hand at the White House as the President signed the order.

CUFI has sought to advance the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act, which is expanded upon and mirrored by the executive order, since Parker testified on the matter before the House Judiciary Committee in 2017. Since that time, CUFI has consistently worked in support of the measure, and its leaders have authored several op-eds addressing the issue, including one as recently as last month.

With more than 7 million members, Christians United for Israel is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world. CUFI spans all fifty states and reaches millions with its educational message.

The CUFI Action Fund, a nonprofit 501(c)(4), nonpartisan organization, is related to the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, Christians United for Israel (CUFI). The Action Fund is dedicated to ensuring our elected officials hear the perspective of the millions of Christian Zionists across the country. The Action Fund’s policy agenda includes support for a strong US-Israel relationship, standing up to anti-Semitism, defending Israel’s right to self-defense and self-determination, and opposition to regional bad actors such as Iran and Turkey and the terrorist organizations they support.
